(a) An intraoperative photo of a patient with an unacceptable donor area scar undergoing follicular unit extraction (FUE) with another physician to obtain grafts to put into the scar as well as for areas of MPB at the same time. Note how close to the ear and how high, as well as far forward in the fringe the extraction sites are located. Most of the hairs obtained from the most peripheral areas can be expected to be lost as the patient ages. (b) 9 months after FUE. The scar is cosmetically invisible despite a very short hairstyle.
